HOME REMEDIES FOR HEALTHY, WHITER TEETH

White teethDentist bills straight up suck! While getting cleanings 2X a year is important for cleaning, clearing plaque, inflamed gums and catching issues before they get too bad, the procedures that follow can be detrimental to your health and bank account. For natural ways to keep your teeth clean and avoiding infections, you’re gonna love these 4 home remedies.

Clove oil: Clove oil is fantastic for toothaches from cavities, procedures, or sensitivities. Put a few drops on a cotton ball and swab over areas with pain. Its also an anti -flamatory so it will help swelling as well as infections. Awesome!
Oil pulling: Vigorously swish coconut oil or sesame oil around in your mouth for 20 minutes, then spit out and rinse with clean water. Yeah, sounds a bit boring and gross but it’s really not that bad after the 1st minute and its benefits are amazing. Oil pulling whitens teeth and pulls pathogens, bacteria, fungus, food particles, etc. out of your gums and spaces in your teeth, reducing your chances of infections and inflammation.
Brush or rinse with sesame oil: Sesame oil has a lot of calcium and other nutrients that are great for dental health. The calcium helps to strengthen the bones in your mouth and gums, thus keeping teeth stronger and reduces chances of your teeth loosening or moving.
Baking soda: sprinkle baking soda on a wet tooth brush and brush for at least a minute. Baking soda natural whitens teeth while it readily binds to bacteria and plaque for removal, giving you a cleaner mouth.

All of these remedies are easy, don’t break the bank, and are amazing for your teeth and health! So if you feel an infection coming on, want whiter teeth, or just want to maintain and prevent infections happening down the road, you will love these remedies!

2 POWERFUL Lessons from my Yoga Class in Bali

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
I spent the last month traveling Southeast Asia, and one of many experiences that I will never forget is the yoga class I took in Ubud, Bali. First, I must say that Ubud is the most incredible place I have ever been to. Friendly and welcoming people, lots of monkeys, delicious food, warm weather, and easygoing lifestyles. Also, I visited Ketut, the Medicine Man from Eat, Pray, Love and got a reading done. SO SO AWESOME!  Okay, back to yoga…..

I took a yin yoga class at the Yoga Barn. Yin yoga is a very unique style of yoga, in that it involves holding a stretch for 3-5 minutes at a time. At first it feels painful, but then you get past the discomfort and can move deeper into the pose. The purpose of yin yoga is to unblock tensions, toxins, fears, guilt, and other toxic things that get stored in our deep fascia. Fascia is the deepest tissue in our body and has a weblike structure that exists throughout our entire bodies, and pretty much holds everything into place. The healthier and less toxic our fascia, the better we feel and move, and ultimately the better our health. So, here are some cool lessons I learned…..

Lay on something every day that hurts you. Ok this sounds crazy but it feels amazing! We layed stomach down on yoga blocks, skinny side-up, with the block resting under our belly button area of our abdomen. Let your legs, shoulders and head lie limp on the ground. At first its super awkward and painful, but the pain goes away. No pain, NO GAIN! The purpose of this is to help loosen up toxins, pathogens, and negative feelings and memories that are stuck in our guts. Most diseases, according to Chinese medicine, lie in our guts. So if you’re having digestive problems, are bloated, tired, etc., lay on something that hurts you for 3-5 minutes!

Braid your toes. Sit with legs in butterfly position, and stagger your toes starting with your right big toe on top. From the top down should be right toe, left toe, right toe, left toe, all the way to your baby toes until they’re all stacked. Use your hands to hold them together as your bend forward. Hold for a minute, release, and braid your toes again starting with your left big toe on top. Hold for a minute, release, and observe the spaces between your toes. Chinese medicine says that when our physical body dies, we die from our feet up, and that when we have clear, tension-free feet, we have a clear healthy mind.

I highly recommend doing these every day for a clearer body and mind! Only takes 8 minutes and the feeling you have after is totally worth it!

Health and Beauty Secrets from My Travels: Part 1

papaya

While in Southeast Asia this summer, I was exposed to some out-of-this-world delicious food. Not only was it delicious, it was also mostly healthy, colorful (i.e. lots of veggies and fruit!!!), had no preservatives, and was so fresh and freshly made to order. The asian culture all have very beautiful hair, lean bodies, clear skin, youthful appearances, and lower rates of cancer. We pay big bucks over here to achieve these things, so I of course had to observe their daily practices and consumption to get their secrets and I would love to share some things that I picked up while there.

Reasonable portion sizes. All of the meals were served in perfect portion sizes and always leave you satisfied, but never full. In other words, no digestive burden or overload. They probably have no clue what a food baby feels like! And remember, the less time our body spends on digestion, the more time it has to repair our skin, hair, nails, adhesions, ailments, etc. which makes us healthier, more alert, and glowing.

They like to spice it up! So so much spicy food, my taste buds were doing gymnastics. Most of the soups had a dash of spicy, while the other meals had slices of Thai Peppers on the side for you to add to your liking. Thai peppers are really small, but boy are they HOT! Spicy food revs up metabolism BIG TIME, kills parasites, increases circulation and alkalizes your body so pathogens have a hard time living – a MUST for traveling to foreign countries!

Green papaya salad. A very common Thai dish, green papaya is a fruit that grows in Thailand and is served usually in strips that resembles pasta and has the consistency of a cucumber but much crunchier. It pretty much tastes like heaven and is amazing for you. It is loaded with enzymes that help aid in digestion, is good for colon health, combats parasites and bacteria, is excellent for heart health and dissolves plaque from arteries, and is an excellent source of potassium and magnesium, as well as Vitamins A, C, E, and B. Its a miracle. Unfortunately its hard to find in the states, but you can buy Green Papaya Powder online. :)

Papaya on your face. This time Im talking about the orange papaya. Mash some up and use a face mask. Also a great excuse for a food fight. It has loads of vitamin A and is great for preventing aging and promoting collagen production, evens skin tone, prevents pimples and blackheads, and can erase age spots and stubborn blemishes. Its also very healing and can be applied to cuts, sores, dry skin, cracked heels, calluses, etc.

I hope you like these tips, I will share more later! And remember, natures way is the way to go!
